60,000 Queen's Jubilee medals being awarded - what Manitobans deserve one?

Who from Manitoba should receive one of these awards? With 5% of the population, we should receive around 3,000 medals.

I'd like to see Mark Chipman, Duff Roblin receive one. Postumously, the Rev. Lehotsky.

Who would you like to see receive a medal and for what reason?

Canadian athletes, entrepreneurs honoured with Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

"About 60,000 Canadians are to receive the medal over the course of the year.

Recipients of the medal in Ontario this afternoon will include singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, journalists Peter Mansbridge and Lloyd Robertson, jockey Sandy Hawley and retired major-general Lewis MacKenzie."

I know people who should not receive one, buy who probably will.

I would actually like to see some nice normal people who have done nothing spectacular receive one. Like say.. some volunteer who has coached or worked in the organization of activities for kids but never expected anything in return or is someone who is barely recognizable as someone other then the guy in the background.

Would the stupid government ever request ahead of time, for names, or would they just put in their buddies?

What is the prerequisite to receive these 60,000 awards?

Agreed.

Guys like Mansbridge and Robertson should not get a medal for simply being a talking head. It's ridiculous to do so.

Apparently, the military will get 11,000 medals. There's around 68,000 reg force and 30,000 reservists, so that works out to around 1 in 9. I heard the RCMP, all MPs and loads of other politicians will get medals.

From one perspective, great! From another, who cares?

I was thinking more along the lines of George Vanderlip from Northwood CC. someone involved in the CCs for 40 years or so.

as opposed to say a certain family that likes spending tax payer dollars on crazty things..cause you know she is gonna get one

military..hard to deicde who does and doesnt...politicians? ridiculous..RCMP? sure if they have 20 years service with no serious blemishes

It warms my heart to know those medals are only costing the taxpayers only $3.5 million and our MPs are all getting one.

Stupid politicians getting stupid "medals - 59 NDP 7 month elected! Yes they really deserve this medal!

And the Conservative supported who made the 60,000 medals! Whoa is he ever happy!
