On Thursday, I was out and about shopping with a co-worker and we decided to stop by India Palace for lunch, as I often do. It's on Ellice Ave.

We opted for the buffett and I was quite pleased with the food. I spiced things up a bit with some spoonfulls of hot pickle.

One of the reasons I prefer this place to larger places like Earls is that it is fairly quiet on the inside. At Earls, it's so loud that you can't hear the conversation going on unless you're sitting right beside the person speaking.

For the two of us, it was $24, with one can of pop.

Yesterday, a friend and I went to Charisma of India on Sherbrook. We stayed for a couple of hours and it wasn't as busy as I expected. The food was excellent, we had two plates plus some dessert. Cost was $40, including one coffee.

I've been to both Charisma, and India Palace. Charisma was really good, though I seem to recall the portions being a bit on the skimpy side. India Palace was good, though I am pretty sure they take their Tandoori Chicken and chop it up and put it in the butter chicken. It was okay, but I prefer to have boneless meat in my Butter chicken.

I recently went to Peace Lilly by St. Vital and was very happy with their Madras Chicken Curry. Very well spiced, and for 18 bucks including tip I walked out very content (Includes 2 Papadams, 1 Veggie Samosa, Bowl of Madras Curry and Rice).

I also enjoyed Crown Samosa on Keewatin, very good butter chicken, and if you add the Chili Chutney it has a good kick to it as well.

Clay Oven has the best Navratan Korma but their butter chicken sucks.

India Palace and Ivory are pretty much the same for everything and I enjoy both.

Did you mean Water Lily or is Peace Lily a different place? Water Lily is more or less across from the St. Vital Centre movie theatre complex.

Yeah Water Lily, I don't know why I had Peace Lily on my brain. Either way it was really good there.

I was wondering about Charisma, because I drive by it innumerable times a week, but never feel compelled to pull into that strip mall area due to traffic/parking boondoggles. I'll have to give it a try.

I've always parked in the lot in front of the strip of businesses there, but I dislike it when the lot is busy.
