Is Internet Explorer for dummies? A new study seems to suggest that.

Titled Intelligence Quotient and Browser Usage, the study by Vancouver-based AptiQuant says IE 6 users have a lower IQ than users of other web browsers.

AptiQuant compiled IQ test scores of 101,326 individuals older than 16 and divided them into groups according to the browser they use.

Users of Internet Explorer 6 have an average IQ score barely more than 80; Firefox and Chrome users fare much better, with average IQ scores of around 110, while Opera and Camino users have an average IQ score more than 120.

Since releasing the results of the study last week, AptiQuant says it has been threatened with a lawsuit by a group of Internet Explorer users.

And Leonard Howard, the CEO of the company, said he's been receiving hate mail from IE users.

“I just want to make it clear that the report released by my company did not suggest that if you use IE that means you have a low IQ, but what it really says is that if you have a low IQ then there are high chances that you use Internet Explorer,” Howard said.

I know over 1,000 who are stuck using it at work. Corporate IT departments are very slow to update past XP and IE6.

I can't believe anyone would use IE6 on their home computer by choice, it's practically unusable. Roughly 50% or greater websites completely refuse to work with it. It's so bad I almost don't bother trying to use it at work. Probably their way of keeping productivity up lol.

The countdown clock for IE6 provided by Microsoft.
Dohh can't post links yet but the url is;

If any of the moderators want to fix the link feel free. Or others could post a link.

I also find any article in the Sun questioning the intelligence of anyone very ironic.
Just my 2 coppers.

I was going to ask how old this article is?
I didn't think anyone in their right mind used IE6 anymore...or IE at all for that matter (unless forced to).

Some corporations use apps that depend on IE6 and IE6 only. They are stuck until those apps are upgraded or replaced.

I use three different Browsers, IE9, Firefox, and Chrome.

As for IT departments updating their clients from 6 to something greater, the larger the computer base the more difficult it becomes to update a software package such as IE. I know from my experience in managing about 5,000 machines, and 100+ Servers that doing annual imaging is the only really feasible way to update computers. Which is a huge undertaking when those computers are spread amongst 44 different buildings.

Though to be fair IE6 is sh1t.

I've only ever used IE when performing a windows update session ( I don't have it set automatically ).

FF and GC for me.
