I really, really need to detail the interior of my car, and will not pay upwards of $100 to have it detailed for me. I haven't noticed any places that seem to have coin op vacuum/upholstery cleaning on site so far. They must exist, as BC cannot be exceptional in having these places. If you know of a place either in the Northwest or Southwest part of the city, please let me know. I don't go over to St. Vital/Boniface etc.

I just did this at The Chamois. It takes two hrs but you get back your car in new condition (inside is pristine). The cost was $130 though andn includes carpets. I can't imagine having your car detailed for $20 anywhere.

Try Midtown Car-wash. They do the detailing for you, but much cheaper than the Chamois. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, I'd look for one of those "pay by the minute" places, There's an Esso that's close to Taylor and Waverly that's like that.

The $20 one is at DeanK's house, but you have to babysit Dean's family and take 3 large pizza's with you!

There also is a coin wash on Osborne, just south of the underpass which has all the regular attachments... wand, brush and vacuum.

There's also one on Wall Street, just north of Portage Avenue. It's rarely used and one can spend a half day cleaning the interior without a hassle of someone behind you honking. Smile

There are likely "levels of detailing". The Chamois does a great job cleaning your car inside and out for $20 (Gold). It generally looks terrific when you drive away. That is likely what Deank refers to.

What Jondo refers to is a whole new level of detailing. That level aims to make your car look brand spanking new when complete. They clean every nook and cranny, wheels, windows, professionally shampoo everything. If leather they take the requisite care in cleaning those materials. Wax and polish the exterior. Clean and polish the wheels taking special care if mags...

Chamois also does this level of cleaning although I've never tried them. I have tried their Gold service and they do a good job. The Chamois has several locations sourpuss. A couple are convenient to you (@ Waverley and @ Polo Park).

If you are looking for self service there are two locations on Taylor. Esso @ Taylor & Waverley and a stand-alone place at Borebank and Taylor.

If your in the north end, there is the Dolphin on Partridge just off Main Street and then Blondies on Kingsbury & Watson. Both are wand wash with the power vacuums that do a good job. There is another one further north on Main Street that is the same as the other two.

Thanks, all. I will probably have my car done at Chamois or something like it as my company will pay for it. However, I had to defilth Hubby's mini-van, which was just gross. I ended up just going to Esso at Waverly/Taylor since it's close and in the direction of where I was going.

My favourite coin op do it yourself spot is the strangely named One Million Car Wash on McPhillips, just north of the Casino. The owner is a really nice guy.

Other than Chamois, is there any other place in Winnipeg that will detail your car interior? Due to the unfortunate death of a squash in the trunk of my car, I need to have the trunk shampooed, and due to some projectile kitty vomit, the interior vinyl/plastic surfaces need to be thoroughly cleaned, too.

Jet used to be my place-to-go, but they closed. Mid-town (from what I can tell from their unfinished website) doesn't do interiors.

And then there's JC Auto Rescue in Transcona. They had some Dealfind deals and I bought a couple. I tried calling to make an appointment and left a message. Five days later and they *still* haven't returned my call, and their voice mailbox is now full. I think I'm going to have to ask for a refund on my coupons, 'cause the service sucks.

Chamois is way overpriced, but if it's my only choice, I guess it will have to be Chamois. Unless someone has some other recommendations!

I went to Chamois on Waverly this morning. Got there at 12:10pm (they open at 12), and was told it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait before they could get to my car, and then to get everything done that I wanted done, it would be at least three hours. And no, I couldn't leave and come back at 2:30, I'd have to sit and wait until everything was done.

Seriously? On a rainy Sunday? Surely there must be better options (other than doing it myself. . . ).
