Wow. Well into the second round and no NHL playoff thread! So here it is.

Any thoughts on the playoffs so far?

Detroit going out in four straight? (YESSSS!!!!!)
Vancouver is even more annoying than usual but will Chicago win the series?
Will Sid the kid lead the Pens to an easy victory over the Habs?
Does anyone care about the Boston - Philadelphia series?

Detroit being booted this round would make me a bit happy. I don't think they've been overly great this year and the Sharks deserve their due, so long as they don't choke up. We'll see how they do in round three ( yes, predicting them taking their series. )

As much as I'd love to see Montreal advance, I doubt they will. Their defensive scheme has got to be taking its toll on the players after all this time. A seven game series against the league leading Caps and they were rewarded by playing another offensive juggernaut. Halak must be seeing pucks in his sleep. 3/4ers of the team must have puck bruises on them from all the blocked shots. If Montreal somehow advanced, I'd say they'd have a good shot at beating out Boston ( yeah, they're taking the Flyers out. ). But whatever, a guy can dream.

Vancouver-Chicago series is a toss up for me. I think they're pretty evenly matched this year. I've a soft spot for Chicago in wanting to see all the kids do well, but I guess I can say the same for the 'nucks ex Moose players.

I hate the Canucks and Red Wings. So good for Chicago and San Jose. I never thought Montreal would beat Pittsburgh. Shocker IMO. Boston - Philly? Meh.

The San Jose - Chicago series should be good. A Montreal - Boston final would be interesting. It is very possible to have an Original Six final with Chicago - Montreal.

It's incredibly possible. San Jose is due to choke anytime now. NHL PLayoffs Icon_bounce Montreal's knocked off two of the league's best. They're gonna do to Boston what they used to always do. ( Yeah, I'm calling for a Boston victory in Philly. )

Montreal - Chicago, Stanley Cup Game.

This would be an awesome game, two of the original six. Tickets, $400.

The league firing Bettman, Priceless.

"San Jose is due to choke anytime now" - too true! NHL PLayoffs 114687

The Sanjose vs. Chicago series looks to be a barn burner...not that we've been deprived of barn burners this year (cows and hogs aside...) in the playoffs, but hey, I'm not going to say no to some more pretty wicked high scoring games!

The Habs, wow, what can you say other than WTF? lol Gainey doesn't look like such a fool now 'eh? Good on them, they really earned their place. (who doens't like to see that at least?)

The Philly vs. Bos series has been dang good, and now a game 7...awesome! Boston doesn't look like the same team that staretd the series, they really looked tired and out of gas last night. Philly has a second wind (in more ways that one) with their starting goalie back. He's refreshed and ready to go. Plus Philly has less injuries overall compared to Philly. Philly has some injuries, but less key players out. .... 50/50 may be better team win!

The longer it goes, the better for the healing (Hal Gill) Canadian's!

Should be an exciting conclusion to the 2nd round, and a fantastic 3rd round yet to come! NHL PLayoffs 107992

Marvelous first period of first game. That is what makes hockey such a great sport. Can these teams keep up that pace?

San Jose 1 - Chicago 0

Blackouts in Italy? Huh? Too bad really. You are missing a great game e. The second period was every bit as good as the first. Fabulous hockey.

If bettman can't sell playoff hockey in the US he never will. Especially this caliber of hockey.

San Jose 1 - Chicago 1

It was a good game. Not as good as game one, but the right team won. I suspect they will have an easy go of it with Philadelphia as well.

Stanley Cup Final

Game 1

Chicago 6 Philadelphia 5

Interesting, if sloppy, game. At different times the teams alternated dominating. At the end Chicago proved too much. Entertaining game.

I believe Chicago over-matches Philadelphia and will handily win the series.

Chicago 4 - Philly 1

The Hawks started off on fire in the 1st but took their collective feet off the gas the rest of the way. All-in-all an entertaining game. Looks like it'll go seven games if this home team wins pattern continues.

Best sport there is IMO...

Where is Bobby Hull?? 1961 , on the team and then joined Winnipeg in ??? for a million dollars as a signing bonus!
Our team investor was brilliant when he got 5 teams to chip in $200,000 each to sign Bobby Hull so he would come over the the WHA. I went to the signing at Portage and main street way back in the 70's. I don't remember what year that was.
Anyone else down there ?? lol
