Some facts (or fibs).
*announcement to be made Thursday, March 4, 10 am.
*Team to be called the Manitoba Jets.
*Owners, a consortium of the Chipman family, Ken Thompson, Garni Thorsteinson, Sandy Shindleman, Fred Glazerman and Len Asper. The Richardson family bowed out.
*John Loewen will hold a minority share and will be the organizations' first President.
*Mark Chipman will be the CEO.
*Kurt Kielback to resume role as the voice of the Jets.
*MTS Centre to be renovated to allow for an additional 3000 seats, for a capacity closer to an NHL-class rink. Renovations will take 18 months and will not disrupt events.
*Current box suite owners will be given first dibs on extending their leases, after a one complimentary year during the first NHL season.

Why would they trade down? We had a WHL team once, the Winnipeg warriors.

Why would Saskatoon trade down? Agreed.

I don't understand the logic behind the Blades moving to Winnipeg. Does that make the Moose move to Saskatoon more likely?

If I was involved with the NHL thing I'd say let's not add anything to complicate the success of a new NHL team in Winnipeg.

minnesota did not call the wild the "northstars"

Colorado did not call the avalanch the "Rockies"

Atlanta did not call the thrashers the "Flames"

Do you see a pattern here?

A team in Winnipeg will not be called the JETS.
