I cannot recall why she was forced out but this is a good step on the part of the Norway House Tribal Council.

The apology is a nice thing and probably the right thing. Now, if she were to ask them to pay for a program to help her recover from the trauma, and compensation and ensure that her ancestors in perpetuity have access to funding so that they can deal with the ramifications of the bands actions, do you think they would come through?

It (endless funding) would if it were the band asking the Government.

Imho, the goofs had to apologize. Nobody has been willing to go there ever since that happened 20 years ago.

They want to build a better haspital facility but can't get staff for it.

yes they had to do it, no doubt there. But the fact that they actually did it instead of just forcing the government to make people go there, that says something about them

All other things aside, it is a bit refereshing to see these guys say that they screwed up and are trying to make it right. Maybe some others could follow suit and some situations could start to improve.
