False Alarm Policy: Each customer receives three false dispatches in a six month period. On the third false dispatch the customer may be suspended for six months. There is no appeal process.
Anyone else see this as heavy handed and more than a little dangerous?

Who does the police service think they are that they can arbitrarily decide they will no longer respond to residential alarms? And then simply deny an appeal?

If false alarms are a problem FINE the offenders. That at least ensures police presence will be available when expected.

Considering they just recently had everyone update their alarm permit, then they issue this? The policy used to be an escalating fine after x number of false alarms during a set period, or you could arragne with your alarm company for private security to respond. That kind of thing definitely was not an option for our work.

And where does this no appeal crap come from?

The response to an alarm should come initially from an alarm company imho.

They are the ones that install the system and if there are "false" alarms" it it their responsibility to fix the system or the client.

The police should only be notified after the alarm company has determined it isn't a false report.

Electrical storms can play havoc with mickey-mouse systems. I live on a fire-truck route....every storm I can bet big bucks that the sirens will start shortly after the first lightening shows itself.

What does that say about the installers eh.
