so this piece of garbage coach of a soccer team out of Calgary supposedly sexually assulted a 14 year old boy on his team. On more then one occassion. And one of the occiasions? the mom was laying in the other bed next to them in a hotel room and heard the above quote.. and did frick all about it except talk with him a few weeks later.

That is just sick! Why would the coach and her son be sharing a room??? And why would she be in one bed and her son and the coach in another? Just sick!

I am a firm believer that it is either too few or too many boots to the head as a child that causes people like this to exist.

Holy sh1t!! I can not believe what I just read. She didn't know what to do? Stuff like this just makes want to puke.

maybe there is some benefit to be had from not only all coaches having that respect in sport course.. but all parents as well.

It just totally baffles me that she would not know what to do....

maybe we need a document that every parent must read and acknowledge that they have read.
What to do if you expect abuse.

Ensure the child is out of immediate danger
Call the police.

short document I know and one for me might need to include wiping the blood off of the knife I plunged into the chest of the abuser.. but pretty damn simple. PROTECT YOUR CHILD

Defence alleges mother was in love with coach

This story just continues to astonish me. In organized youth sports, we try to teach parents that they are the players best advocate. No sport or organization is immune from infiltration by someone with less than good intentions, but a parents role is to protect their child. There are many stories how young athletes are abused at the hand of an authority figure when out of sight of a parent or others, but this happened when the mother was in the same room. Its weird to begin with but just seems to carry on.

Anyone who coaches has to understand the influence that they have over the players they coach. That being said, you also have to ensure that you don't put yourself in a situation which could leave you vulnerable to accusations or insinuations. What were these people thinking?

Winnipeg Youth Soccer has one of the dumbest rules, which is referred to as the presence of a "Bench Mom". It says that an adult of the same gender as the players must be present on the bench during games. So, when I coached my daughters team, one of the moms had to sit with us on the bench (as opposed to spectators who are on the opposite side of the field). While this gave the illusion that there were no improprieties, the reality is there was nothing which precluded me from running a training session with the girls (no parents) or giving one of them a ride home after a game or practice. (Something I never did unless my daughter was with me the whole time)

I guarantee that this case is going to create another set of protocols, some meaningful, others not,but nonetheless, they will put more burden on those of us who freely give our time to support whatever program our kids are in.

Its a reference to someone who will interupt a thread to say that its strayed off the original topic, even though that person may be well involved in the off topic discussion. Its usually the moderators who do this IF THEY'RE NOT TOO BUSY WITH THEIR OWN PERSONAL AGENDA.
