Seems Harry Connick Jr. does not like the cold of Winnipeg. Renee Zellweger was a little more gracious in her views. I guess this is not unwarranted eh? If I was raised in a warm climate and was plunked down in Winnipeg in the middle of winter I'd likely be overwhelmed as well.

Read more here.

Heh, I was expecting something a lot more negative. That article was sorta flattering in a way.

I wonder if he would have liked Winnipeg more if he came in the summer?

He is from Louisiana so our humid summers would be the norm for him.

The humidity festival in Winnipeg is nothing compared to Kentucky or Toronto even. That said I generally find humidity more uncomfortable than the cold.

Yes, indeed, Winnipeg gets humid. But compared to the deep south, no not really. But compared to western Canada? Yes, very humid.

It's all relative.

The jokes about mosquitoes are just as big in Louisiana...and they got gators & snakes too.

The three of them get to fight over the locals.

You always know who is Canadian in the south in the winter.........they are the ones wearing shorts and t-shirts when everyone else (locals) are wearing long pants and jackets. Got to love those Yankees and their idea of cold weather.

That's global warming Sad . I noticed that Winnipeg has alot more hazy days in the Summer. N. Dakota and Minnesota have it just a bit worse, since the temp. gets a few degrees warmer on average.
The humidity factor changes at -1C and +26C. Between those temps. you feel cooler at high humidity. At over +26C you feel alot hotter at high humidity. That's why I hate it here... It never goes into the minus side and the humidity is constantly high...

I do have a wealthy connection in Toronto. You never know, he might just get interested in investing in young hockey talents and a local team, to then sell to NHL teams. Wink

Oh, the AGW misfits are out in full force again.

BTW, CO2 has absolutely nothing to do with warmer or cooler
temperatures on the planet. If this is so, then why have there been
warmer and cooler years on Mars and the other planets? There is no
human life there to create the machinery to affect temperatures there.

No, the real cause of fluctuating temperatures is directly related to
the Solar Cycle. We're currently at the low end of Cycle # 24, which
started January 2008.

http://www.solarcycle24.com/

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/10jan_solarcycle24.htm

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/02/13/where-have-all-the-sunspots-gone/

So whenever Gerbasi and Hesse make statements that BRT will help "save
the environment"... they are LYING to you. BRT is nothing and never
will help alleviate congestion.

If the solar cycle lasts for 11 years (the next cooling period), then it's easy to predict the next warming period mid-way through the 11 years. That takes us to about 2013. Then around 2018-2019 we'll have extreme frigid winters and "summer that we never had".

But hey, in the meantime, maybe those so-called "environmentalists" can "fix the Sun".

This is true...I've actually had a big environmental concern since I was a teenager.

We were learning about the invention of aqueducts and plumbing, and it occurred to me.

Think of all the buildings around the world. All the plumbing in each building...the millions of sections of plumbing, all "storing" water. This is water that is NOT in our lakes, rivers, oceans. This is water NOT evaporating. This is water which is removed from "nature". And we are constantly adding more and more plumbing systems. Seems like a water "shortage" is eminent, because it's not like the earth actually makes MORE water. We don't get a supply from space. What we have is what we're always going to have. In various forms (ice, liquid, gaseous), but the more we put in the plumbing...the less options and volume available.

Add to that...since the Earth doesn't make MORE water...then the water on the Earth is the same (or technically less since we've sent some to outerspace) as has always been on Earth. The water you're drinking now...could've been drunk (and expelled) by some mongol in China...or an Egyptian in a pyramid. The idea that there's "clean" water doesn't make sense...as it's conceivable that every drop of water on the planet has been "used" by some creature, somewhere.
