I've been using transit for the past 3 years or so, and I find the service pretty good, but I am growing tired of people who can't exercise some common sense on the bus.

First, to those who share the big orange taxi with me, please bathe regularly. And just because WalMart had 40 gallon drums of your favourite scent on sale, its not necessary to use it in one week.

When you get on the bus, not everyone gets "shotgun". Move back so other folks can get on. If you don't want someone to sit beside you, get a scooter. And the big space at the back is not intended for you to stretch out, its to provide easy egress out the back door.

Oh yeah, if you hit me with your backpack, I'm going to push you off the bus into traffic.

My idea is a simple training course for bus riders, if you pass, you get a card which you present with your fare to get on the bus. If you don't pass, well, join the participaction crowd. What do you think??

LOL, I might support this idea. some of the worst offenders are the ones that when the bus has all seats full.. they take about four steps on the bus and stand there... blockimg anypne from getting further back .. and making snuccessive people get more and more packed.. it really aint rocket science..move to the back!

I used to take the bus a lot, but I haven't done so in the last decade. If it's not crowded, it's usually fine for me. But overall, I don't miss it for some of the reasons Freeman mentioned. Some people are clueless...

The last bus I took in Winnipeg was 30+ years ago. All the issues raised by Freeman today applied then as well...

I'm considering taking the bus to Jets games in the winter. We'll see how long that experiment last's...

If the bus service offers breakfast, that would increase the business.

There used to be intercom systems on the buses and the drivers would use them to tell passengers to move back.

I've even seen therm turn around in their seats and yell to have people move back.

....but that was many, many years ago...before everything became sooooo politically correct.

What is at the back that scares everyone?

Me.

I think that part of the back of the bus fear is the new style buses which have steps, which can make it more challenging to climb up and down when your arms are full of bags and parcels, and you're talking on your phone while you hold a cup of coffee.
