LOL... so I was waiting for the bus at the MTS centreish around 6pm last night and there was 1000s of cougars walking around. all streaming to the MTS Centre. ALL dressed insanely good.

I wondered... what is Bruce Springsteen in town or something?

I have seen people go to concerts before and sure there are some that dress crazy good and throw on that much make up.. but last night was just insane.

All the Jets naysayers and doomsayers said attendance at such concerts (etc...) will shrivel up and die. Does not look like they were right about that either.

To answer DeanK's question, he may not choose a woman to do as your mind may think, but he does come off the stage into the audience to sign autographs. As for attendance at concerts, it all depends on who it is and how good the promotion is for it. Hubby and I went to Supertramp a while back and there were a lot of empty seats. Britney Spears was just here last week or so and her tickets were being sold at 50% off on Groupon because they couldn't get rid of them. Katy Perry is here tonight and Rogers has provided people who purchased their tickets via their phone with an upgrade to VIP (a difference from a $50.00 ticket to a $250.00) as a promo. Yet Kenny Chesney last night was a sell out in less than 12 hours when the tickets went on sale and I have Keith Urban tickets for September which is also a sell out. You can say what you want about country music but the fans are very loyal and I have yet to be at a country music concert that was not a sell out with the most diverse age groups of fans.

Not a huge country fan, but if Garth Brooks decided to tour again, and came here, I would be right in the front, throwing my panties at him with all the other cougars. I'd like to think I'm still too young to be a cougar. Please? Thanks.

Lots of country stars from the past, people who sold out arenas, are playing smaller venues like the Casinos of Winnipeg.

Marty Stuart, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, etc.

Don't get me wrong, all sorts of musicians who have faded in popularity, play the casinos. I saw Eddie Money in one of our casinos a few years ago. Country fans are loyal to who's popular now but they drop old stars, just like pop and rock fans often do.

He is the professor of economics at U of M. He said no way to Ikea, the Jets coming back, the list goes on and on.
Then when it happens he flip flops

Ahhhh, him. Gotta love the highly edumacated eh? The real world and the university world aren't always the same. Sometimes experience actually working in the real work means something...

Don't discount the effect that his naysaying had on supporting the decision to support such events.
