Letter to the Editor- Globe April 13/11
Twelve years ago I worked with Michael Ignatieff as an editor in a writing program at the Banff Centre for the Arts. In order to work that summer, I needed to bring my two children and a babysitter, unprecedented in the program. “Fine,” said Mr. Ignatieff , “we’ll make it work.” He proceeded to get the housing I needed. He instantly supported my assumption that even during these child-rearing years I should work to my maximum potential.
That same summer he facilitated disability rights activist Catherine Frazee’s participation in the program by backing her request that the entire Banff centre be made wheelchair accessible. It was a stimulating, very productive summer for all of us as we worked on writing, activism and intellectual exploration.
Mr. Ignatieff was not a politician in those days. Equal opportunity for all was simply something he assumed, believed in, acted on and lived. Imagine what he could do for this country.
Kim Echlin, Toronto

When you read what the leaders have done in the past, I believe that you will find that ALL the LEADERS are very good in real life!
Why they go into politics (to serve the public?), is probably their major flaw in life! lol

I wonder if Kim Echlin is the same Kim Echlin who is mentioned in this article.

The next ex-leader of the Liberal party just said that he would assure stable funding for the CBC if he were King Prime Minister.

No-fricken-kidding!!

Afterall, he has to pay for all the Liberal Bias and promotion that trhe CBC is doing for the Liberal Party.

Bastards!!

speaking of Liberal Bias

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/columnists/aspers-a-house-divided-in-politics-120343014.html

"
VOTING WITH YOUR BUMPING STICKER... I spotted a little Tercel on
Grant Avenue Tuesday that had a wheelchair parking sign hanging on the
rear-view mirror and a CAA Plus sticker on the back window. Common
enough. But there was also a bumper sticker I hadn't seen before.

I DON'T BELIEVE IN... "

That's all I could read from a distance. Curious, I tried to get
closer to read the rest, written in smaller print underneath. And there
it was:

"The liberal media."

Gee, I wonder who he's voting for?"
My response..I dunno. Who? Or are you just assuming that because someone thinks media is full of crap that they vote different then you?

I don't know either, Dean. Both CPC voters and NDP voters accuse the media of being liberal and biased in their skew to political centre. "Liberal" media sounds more like a right wing view point than not, but who the hell knows these days?? At politicsrespun.org I'm the lone righty on the panel, yet we all agree that traditional media is a crock that simply spins bullshit that isn't beneficial to Joe Average.

It looks like count iggy is in real denial...

THUNDER BAY, ONT. - The Liberals are on the defensive Monday as polls indicate their campaign is failing.

Public opinion polls suggest the party is losing ground politically on both the left and the right.

The Liberals have lost support to the Conservatives in Ontario and to the NDP in Quebec, and are statistically tied with the New Democrats across Canada.

"I don't feel squeezed. I feel I've got running room either way," Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said at a campaign stop in northwestern Ontario, where the party lost seats to the NDP and the Conservatives in 2008.
Ignatieff appealed directly to voters during his morning announcement at a regional health centre here in a bid to convince soft New Democrat and Tory voters to come back into the Liberal fold.

"This is about serious adult politics," he said, adding NDP Leader Jack Layton's platform is "science fiction."

"We're not a party on the left, we're not a party on the right. That's why Canadian will support us."

The Grits also launched a new double-barrelled attack ad Monday that's aimed at the New Democrats and the Tories. It calls them "two sides of the same coin."

The ad targets both political parties for their respective economic platforms.

The New Democrats were quick to respond. They said the Liberals "desperately" tossed their last chunk of change at an attack ad.

But the Grits remain confident their ground game will bring the 800,000 Liberal supporters who stayed home in 2008 out to vote on May 2.

The party is in a three-way race for the Kenora, Thunder Bay-Superior North and Thunder Bay-Rainy River ridings. The Grits lost the northwestern Ontario seats in the last federal election in the face of a weak national campaign under then-Liberal leader Stephane Dion and solid on-the-ground organization by the NDP.

The New Democrats now hold both Thunder Bay-Superior North and Thunder Bay-Rainy River. The Tories hold Kenora.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper led a charm offensive in the milling and mining town a week ago.

The Liberal campaign finishes the day in Vancouver.

And a little condescending...
"This is about serious adult politics," he said
Seriously, can you see this guy as the Prime Minister of Canada?

"We're not a party on the left, we're not a party on the right."

Well its fairly obvious that he supports legalizing all forms of currently controlled narcotic substances.

I mean he is USING something when he makes a statement like that right??

Funny, it seems he has in fact moved his LIEberal party further LEFT than jack and the ndp.

But let's not let the ndp fool anyone... I'm quite certain that were jacko to become the czar of Canada we'll all be forced to join a union and all of our wages will be equalized.

Does this answer your question? “I’ve been to the Insite service."

The federal Liberal leader says that’s because he’s seen what operations like Insite do in Vancouver.
“I’ve been to the Insite service. I think it does valuable work. I
think it saves lives,” Ignatieff said while visiting Thunder Bay, Ont.

Did getting addicts to actually stop taking illegal drugs even cross his mind. ?
Wouldn't that even save more lives Question

Besides, he's talking about a provincial issue.

He can talk about the law if he wants to speak to the issue of drugs.

This just shows (again) that he's clueless about Canadian politics.
