Actually Politics in Canada sort of remind me of the old wrestling they used to have at the Winnipeg arena.
1. The wrestlers would make lots of noise on TV and even pretend to beat the h*ll out of each other to promote the show and get the suckers customers to buy tickets for the next live event.
2. At the live event you would see the same wrestlers pretend to beat the h*ll out of each other.
3. The hotel (now called Canada Inns) north of the arena used to have a smorg lunch at noon. The customers would see the very same wrestlers who had been pretending to kill each other the night before having lunch there the next day before they hit the road for the next event. I heard them discussing each other wives, kids, etc. Some of them even showed each other pictures of their families

In the case of politics the election campaign and question period in the house of commons is the promotion .
And the election is the live event.
And us suckers voters eat it up and pay for it.

heh.. yup.. got even worse up in The Pas . One day the one guy "BROKE" his leg fighting his rival. ambulance and everything.

Two days later his opponent broke his leg wrestling him in Flin Flon

If the credit card companies can't make their money off the card users themselves, they will just impose fees just for carrying the card or raise the fees for cards they already charge for.
