Dean do you know if they have a listing of the other non sanctioned events? I know that the Running Room lists events as well and have looked there. Just curious as I would like to see other events in different locales.

holly which different locales you looking at? American or Canadian?

Sask, N.Ont, Minnesota, North Dakota would work. Maybe even the Chicago area for the month of May.
And more of the rural locales, I love doing the rural ones like Treherne and Niverville as they are so much more fun oriented than race oriented.

So whats a good pace for 26 mile marathon. Treadmill I can do 7 MPH for an hour, but the boredom is a killer, not sure if a treadmill matches what can be done on the road. So at the least that means 4 to 5 hrs jogging....whats your experience Holly.

there is the twin cities marathon tour bus trip.

Livio I have yet to do a full marathon but friends who have say that average race time is between 4 - 5.5 hours depending on conditions - weather, road, heat/cold, physical. Also if you only train on a treadmill to simulate road conditions it has been suggested to me that I should try running at an incline of 2. Apparently running at incline 2 is as close to running on the road as far as "toughness". The other way to figure out how long it will take you to run a 26 miler, see how long it takes you to run a mile, multiply by 26 then divide by 60 and you will come up with a figure. For example if it takes 12 minutes/mile, x 26 / 60 = 5.2 hours. This is the simplest of formulas, keeping in mind your average pace may be lower than 12min/mile.

Dean, when is the Minneapolis one? Might be something I could look at.

Thanks holly, will try that tongiht. Possibility is I won't run since i can't seem to get over the boredom, and yes i do get runners high , but something distracts me and I'm back to "thinking".

But who knows, I may just show up at run it, would be a kick to have a fresh smoke waiting at the finish line.
