I wish I could say I'm joking. I know for fact that some of the mines around the country, rather than rolling up and reusing their driller's hoses, opt to leave them down in the mines when they're done drilling and order new ones when needed.

I shudder to think what the environmental impact is... but *sigh* at least it keeps me employed...
