It really is too bad that so many of these things are happening in the last few months before an election. That they are basically being locked in with little hope of reversal based on the outcome of an election. Would have made for an interesting election, that probably would have seen our highest voter turn out in decades.

How long do you figure a few folks could keep the air crew tied up searching for randomly placed dollar store laser pointers scattered around the city pointing straight into the air?

Too true. They have far too much influence on too many important policy issues than they should.

I don't mind them providing driver's licenses but I do not want them writing policy.

Plus they make too many stooopid fricking mistakes.

Um chopper stops or helps to cut down high speed chases for an example , autopac pays out less in damages . My rate maybe stays the same or go's up smaller amount . Seems like it came right from the gulag that one .

We've no freeways and we don't live in some mountainous region, so we really don't need this thing on a high speed chase/medical rescue standpoint.
There are other ways the city can "look cool" other than buying the helicopter. Let's repaint all of the squad cars!

When was the last high speed chase and would a helicopter have prevented it.

The authorities have said that it would not prevent them, and that it would only help if the helicopter was right there at the time, which it wouldn't be.

This reason for having a copter has been shot down before and is not used as such any longer.

Wrong. It's not trotted out nearly enough. Calling it friggin stupid is empty and fails to describe the issue. We need an opposition to call it exactly what it is. Problem there is that our provinces funding framework relies on the pillars of state liquor, lotteries and the many webs that it's state insurer has cast. An election will be called next week and it can't be soon enough. Hugh is getting up his confidence now so look for some needed truth in this election.
