Okay, so the WPS has a new ad campaign called just slow down. Here is one of the ads:



Notice the problem with the ad?

The cause of the accident isn't speeding. The accident is a result of the other car swerving into the path of the red car.

WTF? Can't you make an anti-speeding ad that shows speeding as the cause of the accident?

You guys have been watching too much CSI. Its an ad. Theres 2 versions of it, one from each perspective, but the point is that speed is a contributor, both to the cause and the effect.

why? How exactly do you think it matters if they were doing 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90? Dude was not wearing a seatbelt, vehicle swerved into the path of another vehicle. Even if both cars were doing 30 when they collided that dude was getting hurt or dieing.

So, what was the cause of the accident?

If a$$wad does not open the door into traffic dudette does not swerve.

There is NOTHING in that ad that suggests speed was a factor. We can snivel 60kph all we want they did not show what the speed limit on that road was. If they were driving 50kph and the same factors came into play what might have transpired differently?

Injuries would be minimized with slower speeds, and even with the same reaction times, stopping distances are reduced.

Besides, the HOnda had bad brakes and the guy in the other car was not wearing his glasses as he was required to do so. There were 2 people in the back seat of the Honda who were talking about making out which distracted the driver and the passenger door lock on the parked car was broken which required the driver to exit on the road side rather than the curb side. But what do I know.... WPS Ad Campaign Icon_smile

On closer examination, it was a woman who opened the car door. The road was wet, and the temperature was just above freezing making for slippery conditions. I also believe that the driver was blonde.

Check the video at :10 and it is clear that both front seat passengers are wearing seatbelts. They may have taken them off just seconds before the collision in preparation of making out later.

At 11 the dead car does not have any warning signals (4 way blinkers on) to indicate that it is dead and occupying the road...and...

And you guys are right about they're not wearing any seat belts...GGF

heh.. I think they used an older car just to show an accident that had no air bags because they wanted someone to die.
