Winter storm warning for
City of Winnipeg issued

15 cm of snow over the next 24 hours with local blowing snow on Sunday.

This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions...Listen for updated statements.

A trough of low pressure will bring snow to Southern Manitoba. Snow is already falling over portions of Central and Western Manitoba, and will begin in Winnipeg and the Red River Valley late this afternoon.

In general Southern Manitoba should receive about 15 cm of snow over the next 24 hours, with higher amounts in upslope flow along the eastern slopes of Duck Mountain, Riding Mountain and the Manitoba escarpment.

On Sunday, strong northerly winds gusting to 60 km/h are expected to develop behind the trough. This will produce blowing snow giving poor visibilities, especially in open areas of the Red River Valley from the Manitoba escarpment east.

Let it snow...Let it snow here in Wpg and then I might be able to go out and do snow clearing for one of two contractors and for the city which I was denied availability as a result of a court appearance on Jan 26th which was remanded and the lost of the snow clearing "week+" cost one contractor and me in particular some $1500.00 for that whole week and that's because of the arrangement the city has with it's snow clearing contractors etc...GGF

Just be glad you guys aren't in Washington, DC, where something like 80cm of snow is expected from a storm out there.

I heard about that. They canceled schools, flights, went home early BEFORE the snow even fell.

Better to be stranded at home though if it does get that bad...

Man, this is bad luck and timing. I have an out-of-town restaurant reservation for tomorrow evening! I hope visibility and the highways aren't too bad.
