sheesh some people are pissed at the city for this new tool thinking it is something that the city has created.

Should perhaps the City open the EXISTING DB up to be able to see the PROPERLY REPORTED stuff online?

THAT would be a good idea. Allowing anyone and everyone to open and close reports and report whatever they want.. thats freakin moronic and open to huge huge abuse. Maybe I should create a city wide report calling for the Banning of pants?

Its entertainment.

While its hard to qualify how many people responding are actually from WInnipeg, its interesting to note how many things are about street lights, speed limits, etc. Yup, those are decisions we should leave up to some anonymous vote.

Nothing about how to get more for our tax $$'s, creating a business friendly environment, trying to address crime, and the other big issues, nope, just need to put in more crosswalks and everything will be fixed.

Thanks for finding that site DeanK, theres 5 minutes of my life I won't get back. yeah this idea is not open to misuse at all Icon_smile

This isn't about voting or fcuking with some system imo. It's about bringing forth issues that we, the people, wish brought forward...."the way problems are processed by the city."
Empowerment. Efficiency. Engagement.

To me, this appears to be a hellava' good idea. With a simple click, one can see what problems people are having and see what the city is doing about them. That's in itself would be reason for implementing this graphic system.

JTF.

The city already has this system and for good reason its not open to the public to simply add or close items.

Making what we do have inhouse viewable in a graphic format is however an excellent idea and has been added to the list

Think Wikipedia...they don't have insurmountable problems.

how is that even closely related? People will start reporting stuff here, thinking it will be fixed and then get angry at the city for not fixing it when it is not a site that the city even works or deals with.

And actually JTF.. Wikipedia had tons of problems, which is why just any anonymous person can no longer edit the site.

So tell us how you would solve the issues.

We need to look at everything. Not just the big issues. Crosswalks and welfare; Traffic flow and murder rate. Taxation and littering.

These all have an impact on us. We need to look at everything...

I'd elect people with vision and drive, with first hand experience in business, who would be committed to doing the right thing instead of just pandering to special interest groups, left wing a$$holes who want to keep us mired in the same old sh1t. People who would weren't professional politicians, but who were so deducated to this city that they would put their lives on hold for 6-8 years, take a cut in pay so they could truly serve the entire city, those who had the courage of their own convictions and were not afraid to make the tough decisions and devoted their efforts to the city as a whole and leave the minutia to the bureaucrats, not worrying if there should be a stop sign at the end of your street but leaving it to those who get paid to do it and willing to fire them if they don\t.

Thats what I would do.
