$100 million.....such is the price of vanity or megalomania.....so much for democracy being for the people....and this a$$hole wanted to extend the legal term? To me, Bloomberg was an extension of that other blowhard, Guiliani, who took THE FUN out of FUN CITY!!!!

Guiliani was going to try to extend term limits as well, but then changes his mind when he recieved blacklash for trying to use 911 as the excuse...

I cant believe that Bloomberg actually got away with it.

Dude, Manhattan is effin' awesome post-Giuliani. I went for a business meeting there a couple months ago and I was impressed by how safe and clean it is. I would walk to my meetings carrying my Macbook out in the open without fear of getting jacked. The police are all over the place and very friendly to deal with. Overall it's a helluva lot safer than Winnipeg. The only catch is that hotels are pricey (250ish / night), which is rough for my because I'm still doing my post-grad uni and not exactly flush with income, but restaurants are not more expensive than Winnipeg's.

Correction: alot of restaurants in Manhattan are way more expensive then in Winnipeg. Some of the best restautants and chefs are in New York.

The most expensive restaurants in any city tend to be better than the cheaper ones.

Thanks for stating the obvious Wink

Uhh Goth one can eat in Manhattan for just as cheap and good as Winnipeg....I have been hanging in that town for well over twenty years and know it quite well. Sure, if one is going to Le Bernardin, Nobu, Le Cirque, Les Halles to name a few one is gonna drop several hundred dollars but one can have a very good dining experience without breaking the bank.

yeah...stay away from the hotels & chains in NYC and eats are quite good...and inexpensive.

ever watch Seinfeld? find a diner like that in Manhattan, and the prices are probably pretty reasonable.

Even the Soup Nazi place has decent prices (eaten there twice myself)...well, you don't actually eat there...but had their soup.

If you're doing the shopping or broadway thing...prices will be higher. Go 1 or 2 blocks East or West...and you'll typically find a better fare for the price.

Proposed to my wife in NYC...and we went walking down a side road off 5th Avenue...found an INCREDIBLE Indian restaurant for dinner. We ate till we were STUFFED for less than $50 for the two of us. And they had live music playing and incredible service.

If you're going to NYC to spend money...stick to the hotels & chains...if you're going for the REAL experience...don't be afraid to try an out-of-the-way diner/restaurant. Legally...they still have to meet certain health codes to be in business...so the odds are good you'll be treated well and at a fair price.

I stayed at this place and it was awesome, right in midtown manhattan between 5th and Madison avenues, and a couple blocks
from the Empire State.

It's pretty cheap for NYC (I got a room for 175US a night online), and it's a real cool experience. Lots of travelers, an old almost scary elevator, hard wood floors and pop art posters all over it, and bay windows in the generously sized rooms.
