Well we know for a fact that Greenland and Iceland were warmer 1000 years ago than today. The Vikings actually inhabited and built settlements on Greenland for a few hundred years, before a drop in temperatures sometime during the 13th or 14th century made it virtually impossible to remain there.

NASA is now reporting that 2009 will continue to be a COLD year. No sunspots in 75 of the past 90 days.

The NASA graph shows that their predictions (the straight lines containing the squigglies) were for a warmer period since 2007 than what really happened (the small amplitude-like swiggly lines).
