Gretzky caught in crossfire In no-win situation, resigns as Coyotes coach

The murky end, like everything else to do with the Phoenix Coyotes, should have been handled differently by Wayne Gretzky and by the National Hockey League.
Instead, there was no Gretzky yesterday, just a statement on a website that bears his name. There was no press conference. There was no official announcement made. There was no Gretzky sighting at all.
Just a few words, not much context and a new coach in Phoenix. "We all hoped there would be a resolution earlier this month to the Coyotes ownership situation," Gretzky said in his statement. "Since both remaining bidders have made it clear that I don't fit into their future plans ... it's time for me to step aside. In his statement, he thanked the Coyotes, past and present, said that Phoenix was a great sports town and also (-- wonder what the NHL thinks of this --) hopes there will be another NHL franchise in Southern Ontario in the not too distant future.

LOL, yea I wonder what BETTMAN thinks about Gretsky's statement too. Probably has Steam comming out of his ears.

One good thing though, If Bettman had to move the club It would be to Winnipeg !!!!! Mayby Prime Minister Don Cherry's prediction is not so far out there.

did you know.. Gretzky actually set and still holds a number of track and field records in Southern Ontario.

Gretzky should have walked away from hockey a long time ago to be with his kids. It tarnished him in my opinion being coach where he was.

He wanted to be a part-owner and coach and he did just that. I can't fault the guy for doing what he wants to do, especially in the world of hockey. He's earned it, IMHO.

Sure, it would have been nice to see him coach the Coyotes to a winning record and make the playoffs.

He made $8M as their coach. I wonder if he will end up coaching elsewhere?

It's his choice to lead his life how he wants. I'm cool with that.

Maybe he should replace Bettman.

He should just concentrate on his family and be the father that he should have been when he retired from playing. I'm sure his kids would like to get to know their dad and have him participate in their lives.

Goodness knows he doesn't need the money. Oooooooh really bad Gretzky joke here....

so one night janet and wayne are in bed getting their freak on and Wayne decides to go down on Janet.....Janet informs him that she is on her rag but Wayne does not seem to care so he goes for the gold....part way through the ahhh, snacking session, janet remarks "Messy eh?" He looks up and goes "No, its me, Wayne!"

An oldie but a goodie....(bad pun there....sorry)
