Gretzky caught in crossfire In no-win situation, resigns as Coyotes coach
LOL, yea I wonder what BETTMAN thinks about Gretsky's statement too. Probably has Steam comming out of his ears.
One good thing though, If Bettman had to move the club It would be to Winnipeg !!!!! Mayby Prime Minister Don Cherry's prediction is not so far out there.
The murky end, like everything else to do with the Phoenix Coyotes, should have been handled differently by Wayne Gretzky and by the National Hockey League.
Instead, there was no Gretzky yesterday, just a statement on a website that bears his name. There was no press conference. There was no official announcement made. There was no Gretzky sighting at all.
Just a few words, not much context and a new coach in Phoenix. "We all hoped there would be a resolution earlier this month to the Coyotes ownership situation," Gretzky said in his statement. "Since both remaining bidders have made it clear that I don't fit into their future plans ... it's time for me to step aside. In his statement, he thanked the Coyotes, past and present, said that Phoenix was a great sports town and also (-- wonder what the NHL thinks of this --) hopes there will be another NHL franchise in Southern Ontario in the not too distant future.
