I guess he was in his 50's. What is somewhat surprising are the lack of details surrounding his death. But yeah, too young to die.

Said he finished High school in 69 so he should be in his late 50's. It's too early to determine cause of death at this time. He was a bigger guy, maybe a heart attack felled him.

Yes, he was 61. No cause of death announced yet, but on the radio they mentioned he has had a history of respiratory problems.

He will be missed as I never found him to be an "in your face" leader of his people like some of the other chiefs in this province. He worked hard to get where he was, a great role model not only for the aboriginal community but for all of the people of Manitoba who are not born with the perceived God-given right of entitlement.
My prayers go out to the Lathin family.

Yes he was one of the few true role models the native community had. He will be missed worked with him when he was a minister for the Indian Northern affairs. He was a very quiet man but he said alot with his silence.
