well will be updated.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/big-shifts-seen-as-city-redraws-electoral-map-59442652.html

There will be massive changes because of this one little tidbit from the article

"
In 2006, St. James-Brooklands had 29,230 people, which is below the minimum ward size of 31,285 people - or 25 per cent less people than the city-wide ward average of 41,713. St. Charles and Transcona, meanwhile, just barely made the grade in 2006.
At the other end of the scale, St. Vital's 2006 census tally of 50,080 people took it close to the maximum ward size of 52,141 people, which is again based on a maximum deviation of 25 per cent above the city-wide average. The addition of Sage Creek in St. Boniface and Waverley West to St. Norbert mean allowances for even more growth must be made in the southeast.
"
coupled with this one little tidbit from the charter..
"Subject to subsection (3), each ward musthave, as nearly as is reasonable, the same population and,in fixing the boundaries of a ward, the commission mustconsider"

time is going to be tight to get this done though.

they must hold the initial hearings
prepare and send a draft report to city clerk based on hearings and population and such
hold more public hearings based on report
prepare a final report to city clerk
who on receiving the report schedules it for a council meeting

then council pretty much rubber stamps it.

All this has to happen with sufficient enough time before June 30 so that people whom might be running at least have a general idea of what the wards look like.

but man, things are going to change substanially.

Will you be attending the meetings?
What reccomendations do you have?
What complaints do you have?
Are there too many wards?
Too few?

oh and one last little tidbit.. we have long since passed the date where we can add or take away wards. That had to be done 18 months prior to an election and unfortunately my request for a review based on the numbers was not approved.

I don't think it impact me....so long as I stay living in "da hood"....once I leave, then it might, but anything to shake up the system at this point, is probably for the better.

No?
