Is this a good level of soccer Freeman?

Does our area stand a hope in hell of putting a team up that competes in this?

The seven events approved so far include this year's Canadian Aboriginal Achievement Awards, BMO National Soccer Club Championships, National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, Canadian National Ball Hockey Championships, and the World Financial Group convention

Winnipeg will be the host for the U16 Club Nationals this fall. Basically, the deal is that each province will send their provincial champion teams (male and female). This is an incredible level of soccer. I was the provincial rep for the U16 club nationals 2 years ago, and this is some of the best youth soccer you'll see. Many of these kids will be scouted by universities from Canada and the US. The format will be something like a round robin with each team playing 3 games and the leaders in each group advancing to play offs. Players can expect at least 3 top notch, highly competitive games in 2 days. Anyone who enjoys the beautiful game should check the schedule and mark their calendars.

Starts on the Wednesday Oct 7 and finals are on Thanksgiving Day Monday. Should be some really good soccer. Top notch club provincial teams from across the country. Lots of scouts from universities from the US and Canada will be there as well as scouts from some of the European clubs.

Sounds like a good opportunity for local rec teams to hold their "windup" as a group attending some of these games jsut before the indoor season starts.
This being held at bloomberg? Or the new indoor facilitiy? Or....???

Winnipeg Soccer Complex and Red River College (Norm Konawalchuk Field) are the fields that will host this tournament. Blumberg is in such dis-repair that rumour has it they (being the city) may be closing these fields. The other possibility for a host site is buhler Park in Transcona but I haven't heard confirmation of that yet.

say.. that money went through to fix up the Soccer Complex fields right and to turn one into FIFA quality? What was the target date for that to be completed?
