heck even just having the pilot and stewardesses wearing one would make sense wouldn't it?

I would think it would be reasonably cheap...if done to all planes.. How hard can this be?

I would hope that the pilots would know where they are without one.

yeah, and why don't they build the whole plane out the same material they make the indestructible black box?

They should make the plane out of the same stuff they make the seat cushions...then it could land on water and float Smile

Just from my perspective, but the concept of GPS locators "all over planes" could be misinterpreted as defeatism and pessism. After all, isn't the plan that the aircraft actually fly and land safely at its destination?

then might as well remove the black box I guess

Or just put a GPS locator on it.

No, catastrophic failure is accounted for in the plans. It is not defeatism to realize that a 100% success rate is impossible while every opportunity to mitigate and learn from these occurrences is undertaken.

Heh.... enough 35 cent words for ya?

Sure, call it defeatism. And how in the world does that make it impractical? Knowing what happened is a vital part of improving flight safety. It's not defeatism to acknowledge that accidents happen. They do. All the freakin' time.

Or better yet, let's just call it defeatism. Fine. Whatever. And then what?
