Has anyone taken a moment to remember June 6, 1944. I find it to be the most important date in history. Had those landings not succeeded, what would the world be like today???

I remembered it Freeman.......it took CJOB this morning to remind me though. We cannot thank those troops enough, our freedom is owed to those boys that were there in "44"

These are emotional times. The last remaining troops are too quickly passing.

Funny how the ceremonies this weekend in France were to only include the Americans and the French. Too soon some forget the incredible role the then tiny nation of Canada played in liberating France. Remember we were a nation of 7.5 million when WWII began.

14,000 Canadians hit the Beach, and how many died? 370? The paper story with the 82 year old man on the beach, remembering those that he knew that died there. For a 17 year old going to fight, must have been incredible! Scary when you think of Bush picking a fight in Iraq, and over 4000 dead because of oil!
My history book that i am reading is just one war after another, with nothing ever settled and more and more dead!
It is apparent to me that religion and wanting the other man's land is at the root, and that nothing changes but the names of the countries involved!
