I'm going with the Penguins in 6.

I find this series has a lot of similiarities as the 1983-84 Edmonton Oilers- New York Islanders Stanley Cup Final (coincidentally, the last time two teams met back-to-back to play for the cup). The Oilers were young and feisty, and looking to avenge their 1983 defeat at the hands of the veteran cast of Islanders.

This season it is the Penguins who are young and feisty, and looking for revenge for last year, when they were knocked out by a more experienced bunch of veterans from the Red Wings.

For the record, I am 9-5 in predicting who is going to win the series....

I'll pick Detroit as much as I hate to. In six. They are a very strong team. Sid and Gino will have a much more difficult time freewheeling in this series.

7-1 round one
2-2 round two
1-2 round two
10-4 overall...

I'd like to see the Penguins win but think they'll lose in 5. Detroit has too deep a team and is too good at playing a crazy puck possesion game and not letting the opposition control play.

I hate both teams, so I'll root for the Sid.

I'm glad the Penguins won last night. Hopefully they can win again on Thursday and make a good series of it. I saw the reaction in Pittsburgh last night, and there were tens of thousands of people celebrating on the streets.

Outstanding third period in last nights game. But Pittsburgh is missing two key ingredients: size and grit on the blue line and grit on the offense. It seems they can never hit Detroit. Frustrating like mad...

The Penguins looked great in Game 4. rosby and Malkin came through. that 2 on 1 goal was pure gold. Looks like this series could go the full 7 games. This also looks to be the highest rated Stanley Cup Final in the US in almost a decade. However, the Game 6 on tuesday will go head-to-head with the NBA Championship final, so it will be interesting what rating the NHL pulls off on NBC.

Pittsburgh is lacking in the size dept like Grumpy was saying they are not able to hit back .

Nothing like Stanley Cup Hockey to bring out the best action!
Very exciting hockey! Well worth the cost of sitting in front of the TV screen.

Pittsburgh is younger and is wearing out Detroit.

Pittsburgh is indeed younger. And they played Detroit's game to perfection in game four. BUT... Do not think the series is now Pittsburgh's to lose. Detroit had one off game and as much as I intensely dislike the Red Wings they are by far the superior team.

Pittsburgh just made it a great series with their improved play.

I still think Detroit will take the cup. Detroit has a history of coming out on top (unlike their economic situation), and dollars to donuts history will repeat itself.

Oh, and by the way; GO JETS GO!!!!

It will be a close game. Detroit will be at the Joe, which means 20,000 fired up Red Wing fans, mainly from Southern Ontario (since nobody in Detroit can afford tickets), and give the Wings a boost.

Not looking too good for the Pens. Third period may well be a period of reckoning. Wings need to keep their heads up...

Pens in seven. Whoever thought they'd make it this far?

I think Detroit will win it with Game 7 being at home. Maybe in second overtime. That would be exciting, then the game might still be on when I get home after watching the Moose game.

What an exciting series. In fact, the Moose played so brutal on Friay that there were at least 200 people watching one of the monitors on the concourse that was showing the game when the Moose game was on. I don't blame them. Way to Go Pens!!!!
I finish 10-5 for the record.
PS Notice the "warm" reception Bettman gets announcing the Penguins as champions. Priceless!

It was close. Could have gone either way, I suppose. I wonder if Detroit will now dump Osgood or keep him around.

Osgood did not lose that series. Detroit played well but when the bumping increased they sorta' disappeared. The Europeans don't like to be hit. And as long as a referee is around to protect 'em they don't mind the cheap sh1t.

It'll be interesting to see how Pittsburgh retools for next year. They are weak on defence (physically).

I'm delighted the Pens won though. I'd say they were the deserved winners. They did not back into this championship.
