As far as "Canuck" goes though...I think it depends on the context. I agree about that article, the respect should've been made for military personnel, and especially an officer...though in most of the US, the "Canuck" term is said endearingly...not as an offense.

Canuck... hmm... I've never even heard that word but I'd be offended by it if not only because it's pretty ugly. "Canadian" is so smooth and tender, "canuck" sounds like a Hebrew word for poo.

It doesn't sound ugly at all. You see, the Cs are pronounced like an "S" and the K is silent, so it sounds like "Sanoose". Rolls right off the tongue.
