The mother of a man guilty of a fatal stabbing outside a city
nightclub flew into a rage yesterday after misinterpreting comments
made by the victim's mother in court.
The confrontation occurred at a sentencing hearing for
22-year-old Sandy Joseph Davis, guilty of manslaughter in the stabbing
death of reputed gang member Lester Gonzales outside an Exchange
District nightclub.
Justice Brenda Keyser adjourned sentencing to May 12 to consider submissions by the Crown and defence.
Court had closed and a sheriff's officer was escorting Davis back to lock-up when his mother yelled, "I love you Sandy."
That prompted Lillian Gonzales, a Guatemalan immigrant, to respond, "He can hear you."
Davis thought Gonzales said "He will kill you" and launched into an angry tirade that spilled outside of court.
"Why would he kill me? He's my blood," she yelled.
Family members from both sides tried to calm the woman with no success.
"They should have just stayed in their own Third-World country
if they are going to join gangs," she said. "You are f------ lucky to
be here. This is native land."

Hey, you don't have to look too hard to find a minority to pick on!

What is funny here though is that the one native is grossly misinformed about the other native....or does one native group supercede the other in terms of oppression and importance?

How is it Native land? The treaties are fairly clear that they gave up most of the land and even the "reserve" stuff is not thiers.. its the crowns to be held and managed by the crown for them in their best interest

I work in a predominantly Aboriginal agency and I am amazed how many of my co-workers speak of other minorities, the Paki cabbies, the pork chops that live down the street. We had a workshop on racism, etc and the presenter, an Aboriginal woman, tried to explain that because Aboriginals are victims of racism, they themselves can not be racist Well, that was a waste of a day in my life, but if thats the prevailing attitude, things will never improve.

Was that ummm geez I cant remeber her name.. she worked with the northend womens resource center at one time... yeah I told her to stuff it up her ass when she said that to us at one place.

Well Dean it is the new battle cry of (some ) the tough-assed, modern "native".....once again, i reiterate....Ms. Davis should do some research on Guatemala and that country's INCREDIBLY violent genocide against its native population......Ms. Davis sounds like another one of the great unwashed and uneducated who when runs smack into the system will pull out the old territorial and poor me BS....that is how it reads to me....

People hear what they want to hear (reading that ms. D has a HUGE) chip on her shoulders....as opposed to hearing what was actually said....

As much as i like the above quote I think it is safe to surmise that Ms. Davis's remark was not made with that particular reference in mind....hehehe

The sad fact of life is "man's inhumanity to man"- I am not sure where I read that statement from , but if you pick up any daily paper, there is killing after killing, beatings, muggings assaults, many racially targeted.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...
