How Long Do You Have To Wait at the Hospital or Walk-in-Clinic

I don't even complain or ask my Dr anymore. He has yet to give me anything to help with sleep. I told my husband to complain to his Dr and sure enough he got a prescription, so I just use that. I hurt my back 2 years ago and could barely move, my Dr gave me antinflamatories which did nothing and told me to take Advil. He finally gave me Tylenol 3. IMO, men are treated much differently then woman. My hubby can get anything if he asks, I have trouble sleeping for over a year and nothing.

Doctors probably give into men because we are such sucks when it comes to pain. Women have a higher pain threshold...

That said, when it come to pain, no more than a few days.

Oh, and rosen I don't mean to dismiss your pain. I suspect yours is a much higher pain then most have experienced.

I'm referring to the levels of pain the average person whines about. And by average person I mean me.

No, but they work out of the same office. My brother and Dad see the same Dr as I do and they get pain meds, sleeping pills etc. I totally think when you're a woman it's different. I have never abused medications but yet I am treated like I do. It is so odd.

Maybe your doctor has a goth-bias?

I have seen similar stuff too.

A coworker and I both (unknowing to each other) to the day off work because we were so sick. We had the exact same symptoms and considering we worked in the same office together it was almost 100% guarenteed it was the same thing. We end up at the same doctor's clinic close to our house.. She is there first and sees doctor A a few minutes later I get called in for Doctor B. Doctor B looks at me for a few minutes gives me a prescription for some antibiotics and sends me on my way. I way for my friend to come out. She comes out with no prescription but 7 different tests she has to go to a different clinic to get done and then come see the doctor in 3 days.
I start taking my stuff and I am back at work in two days... she lays at home in pain for the 3 days for the doctor to eventually tell her to just get over it.

What would he do if you actually mentioned this bias to him? He can't fire you. Ask him if you should see the other doctor perhaps?

DeanK - sounds like the system worked! You had to go back to work and the female had to get naked with 3 other male Doctors!
