it was a forum that alot of us used to hang out on before the bloodletting of July/August 2008. Things got real stupid for a while and things were said and done that caused a number of us to go our seperate ways. Some people still post both places. Some people from there lurk here and some from here lurk there.

I don't think I could raise chickens in my backyard then slaughter them for food. Eggs, sure. Chicken cutlets. Nope.

while it can be fun chopping the heads off and seeing just how far they will go afterwards ( over 100 metres the one time ) ...the plucking of the feathers is not fun...nor is the eating them and remembering how much fun they were to pet.

How much would you pay for fresh chickens? They are about $10 a bird in the store... would you pay more then that? less?

how many birds would you buy? would you want to visit them?

So this is all a big plot to sell your parents chickens? Very Happy.

$10/bird? I'll have to think about it.
There's a lady my wife works with who brings in frozen birds from the Hutterites every year...we usually get 3-5 of them...though I don't know what she pays for them.

Did you really chop their heads off?

We would just grab them by the neck and start spinning them till we felt a "pop"...they don't move at all after that.

no no.. just wondering if it were something that I did ... if it would be worth it in gas money... I wouldn;t mind an excuse for visiting my parents farm every weekend this summer. gas costs me about $12 each way so I would need to sell about 40 chickens to pay just my fuel...

and yeah I think its umm $8? per hutterite chicken? cant remember... but umm.. well if you are happy with hutterite chicken thats your call..

Cantors may well use hutterite chicken.. and you seriously found roasting chicken inside this city? hmm I better go check out Cantors then. Most places only carrying Friers and market them as roasters. ( difference is the size of the bird )

Cantors is pretty good.

The Hutterite chickens are quite a bit better than the Safeway/Superstore/Sobeys variety. Generally much juicier (when cooked properly).

I'd wager any farm-raised (as opposed to coop-confined) chickens would be much better if cleaned/prepared properly.

Check out Cantors Dean. I usually get a 7-8lb roaster for a Sunday dinner.

They are?

I haven't been to the Hutterite farm(s)...but I understood them to be all "open range" chickens. With big coops for them to retire to for laying/breeding...but that it was open out onto the farm.

I went over there and read all 6 pages....wtf is the problem there....I found nothing 'bannable'... unless they removed the stuff.

Nothing removed as far as I know. FTR they said banned this time because I was banned earlier under another pseudonym. Thing is I was there and posting under that alias for many weeks. WTF eh?
