She has recently moved to Winnipeg and wants to know if other Winnipegers are upset that we cant raise chickens in our backyards. She was VERY surprised by the fact that you can't.
Well Mary I completely disagree with you. Having raised chicken and even had a pet chicken I know that Chickens definately do not belong in a city. The noise, the smell, are two quick reasons never mind the disease carrying capability of them. One of the big reasons we see the Avian flu come out of Asian areas is quite simply because of humans and chickens living so close to each other. You want chickens, move back out of the city. There are trade offs between country life and city life and this is one of them.
