TicketMaster has been less than forthright in their dealings apparently.

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Manitoba-woman-sues-Ticketmaster-40218587.html

Should MTS Centre dump TicketMaster as fast as they can, or should they give them 30 day's notice? Smile

Boot the fuckers out.
I hate TicketMaster and all those ticket sales places.

Would prefer to buy tickets from the venue itself, as opposed to a global seller who tacks on fee after fee after fee. Convenience fee my fat ass.

Those commie bastards appear to have not been satisfied gouging with phoney fees and decided to go for real money by sending you to their phoney-scalper site.

We should bring back the guillotine...but just a small one...but big enough to fit their balls.

I know, because you are not buying from MTS.
Your buying from TM, you just went to their office, and paid them for the chance to do it. Online, over the phone, in person, all from TM, and all charged up the ying yang for using a service you have no choice but to use.

Well except the choice of not going to any event at all.

How to fix it? If society wants to make a change, the free market will respond eventually. If not, then the message is that enough people are satisfied with the ways things are.
No frivilous law suits from people who don't read the fine print or who choose to spend money and then whine about it. Don't like the prices? Then don't pay and if enough people do that, the free market will force TM to change or someone else will come along. Given their enourmous array of cloud computing potential, this would be a business that Amazon.com could get into, among others.

I'd say there is a groundswell now rising up against TicketMaster. The Boss has helped raise both awareness and anger.

As for complaining - if the MTS's of this world and the acts don't make a stink the buying public is lost. TM provides a very valuable service for the acts and venues. As long as people keep paying, those folks have no real incentive to change their ways.

But scalping is supposed to be illegal yet on-line services (including one by TM) do it all the time. Monopolies should not be allowed either.

It says here that the government will begin clamping down on these scalping sites, especially if there is collusion between TM and its scalping arm. It also says here there is now an incentive for other companies to get into the ticket business.

This really isn't the free market system...this is a mere use of the term to legitimize a monopoly. If TM has an exclusive contract with MTS and MTS is the only game in town.....to da...collusion.

Still the free market, perhaps not ideal, but what else would you call it? MTS Centre is not the only game in town for concerts, just for certain shows.

Ahhh...you're right.

That's where a little government intervention may be required. Wink

I've seen tickets advertised on tickets now before they go on sale.

My take? Ticketmaster is holding back a certain number of concert tickets that they plan on selling or transferring to tickets now. They sell the rest of the tickets through ticketmaster, but once those have gone, they sell the remaining 10-15% through tickets now.

True story. One of my friends is a big Bob Dylan fan. We sat in the front row at the old Arena when Dylan last played there. I told him tickets were going on sale at the end of the week. The next day, on Monday, his boss told him in a panic that the show was almost sold out, according to the Internet. Both are clueless about the Internet and computers in general. So, my friend ponied up $600 to get three tickets at Ticketsnow.com, just over twice what they were going for at TM. He did end up with good seats on the side, but was embarrassed that he was suckered.

I, too, would like to know how Ticketsnow gets tickets before they go on sale at TM.

They used to be separate but TM bought Ticketsnow. Still, it seems like fraud for Ticketsnow to have TM tickets on sale before TM. Livenation, the largest concert promoter, is supposed to merge with TM. Talk about monopoly. Still, if people aren't happy, they can boycott and complain and should a viable competitor emerge, they stand to do very well.

It absolutely is fraud, or at least deceptive practice. Scalping is illegal and they should be charged.

They put most of their tickets over to their other enterprise in order to get more money. Period. They have admitted to doing so and have promised not to do so again....

Gee...it that the new defence to crime? I promise not to do it again????

Commie bastards! Wink
