I believe you're right, Rat. A long long time ago when I was young and stupid we went there a few times to score dope, you could find anything and everything at the PVI.

I had forgot about that hole from what I heard it took over from the Morocco for scuzzy. Who remembers the Airliner and Morocco when they were the last bars to close in town, and half the city was there. 4bucks a beer god that hurt now seems not so bad, as that is normal .

Yes from what I hear it was quite the place the Moroco in its hay day, my father once told me it was the place to be before the TC came to town .

It was called the Junkyard....I saw a few bands there back in the day. The Green's (who own the Osborne Village Inn) owned the PVI.

I remember one night seeing some of the names in Harrys office while I was there I forget all but there was some big ones . As he once told me it was different people had no tv or few did, and people got dressed up and went out . You wanted to be seen at a place , it supposedly had 3 dance floors on 3 floors .

You would think that if downtown revitalization were truly successful, this building would have been snatched up and developed long ago. There are clearly still serious issues with Winnipeg's downtown. I think we need to figure out EXACTLY what they are and address them immediately if people truly want downtown to be successful. Otherwise, it will continue to deteriorate and crumble, and become home to yet more "undesirables".

I recall reading somewhere that this building would cost a small fortune to turn it into something people would desire. That may be why nothing has happened.

Well, what exactly are these upgrades that need to be done? Just saying that if they are deemed necessary, why weren't they addressed long ago when A&B sound occupied the building?

I reckon some additional costs would be involved in bringing the place up to marketable standards in terms of esthethics, but it should be pretty much "to code" already for occupancy purposes. The building was't 'condemned' afterall.

But I think that the problem the building is facing is the location...downtown with no parking.
