Lets just call it Vote NDP Day, cause it was more about votes for the NDP rather than anything else. A friend of mine (yes, I do have friends) runs his own business and this day of "celebration" costs him $40,000 in wages paid with no production.

Just to correct RC's version of history, Riel was hung on Nov 16, 1885 in Regina after being found guilty of treason, as a result of his leading the rebellion in May, 1885. Amazing that someone could be tried, convicted and hung in 6 months. Good thing he wasn't drinking and driving otherwise his case would still be pending. After his capture, Riel was escorted and held under guard by members of the 90th Battalion of Winnipeg Rifles, now the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. A nice Winnipeg touch to the story.

Philosophically speaking, we're all related, whether split from the same amoeba, or the progeny of two people in the Garden of Eden.

My God, does that mean that we all actually married our cousins, albeit several million times removed? No wonder the whole planet looks like a scene out of "Deliverance", its all the in breeding.

Its a manufacturing concern, so paying time and a half means that it would only cost him $20,000 for the overtime, and the product would be sh1t because his employees would be pissed for having to work when everyone else has the day off. Good business sense.

And people don't want holidays without stores, thats why they go shopping on Sundays and holidays. Its called freedom of choice.

Supposedly all blue eyed people have one common ancestor. The gene mutation supposedly happened 12,000 years ago in Europe. Interesting...my son has blue eyes. Very Happy

Having the option to shop whenever we want is a great choice. Shops are open longer and more frequently because the consumer wants it so. That means the majority has spoken. I won't sh1t on a retailer because he wants to open any more than I'd sh1t on a consumer for choosing to wait in longer lines at Safeway in the "good old days".

I love that I can shop whenever I want. Life is busy with 2 kids and a job. In the industry I work in we are open 24/7 and all holidays! I am lucky that I only work weekdays.
