Trash cancelled again today...

Yet, when I left for work yesterday...the trash trucks (recycling followed closely by general refuse) are barreling down the back lanes picking up the trash & recycling. I did note that the guys getting on and off the trucks had no fluorescent safety vests/jackets, nor were they wearing gloves. This is odd as it's 1) a requirement for both and 2) I've never seen them not wearing them before.

The guy hopping off the recycling truck looked more like a desk worker than a road guy though...so either he was new, or (as I assume), some of the managers are out riding trucks and doing trash collection.

I know, the ruts in my back lane are so bad that i keep smashing my front valance. I am just wait for it to break so the city can replace it for the 3rd time!

...speaking of trash pick-up...

Three of my neighbours consistantly have cardboard boxes (pizza) left behind by the recycle guy. They then put it out for the regular pick-up, and now, for two weeks, the regular guys won't pick them up either. They leave them on the ground.

I've called the new 311 service to inquire but haven't heard back from them yet. Strange stuff.

Call your MLA and let them now. that what i do and with 2 hours every thing in my lane was picked up. some one in a city pick up truck picked it up. lol

Wow, some people are brave....leaving blue boxes laying around....doesn't matter if they have recycling in them, in my area they'll grow legs and walk away if you leave them out for too long!

Many times, (becasue the second of our blue boxes was stolen) we have more then one box can handle, so, I'll load up the cardboard kitty litter box with recycables and leave it right beside the blue box (with the top open, so you can see the recyclables inside)....which is at least 10 feet away from the garbage...yet they leave the kittie litter box full of stuff, or take it when they drive by and put it with the garbage. So, I'm now going to print off signs and tape them to the extra stuff "Recycling, not garbage!" and see if that works.

I've filed a complaint with public works, but they don't really do anything about it, and it's not like they are going to order the garbage people to sort through the truck that day and pick out the recyling that the recylers obveiously didn't want to take.

When we bought our boxes, we took big markers and wrote on all 5 sides of the box our address. We've had the same boxes now for 4 years.

I actually talked to our guys once... that anything not IN or ON a blue box is considered garbage and they don't touch it. Try putting the box of recycling on top of the blue box. In my neighborhood that seems to work.

You need at least one blue box to recycle. If you have too many items for your blue box, put the rest in any container that is no bigger that a blue box.

They should tell that to the guys on the trucks then...cause I'm only going by what they told me.

The exception is things two large for the blue boxes, like folded cardboard boxes, or large plastic buckets. But a box full of cans would be considered garbage.

someone should tell those guys for sure... All my stuff gets picked up properly.

If you lived on Wellington Crescent you would find that Northenders troll the backlanes picking up all the trash and recycling that is put out!
The City doesn't have to come by our area at all!!

heh.. that happens all over the city... got to a point in one area where I would just pun the cans in a seperate box for the dude

I think it is separate- That is one of the 4 words that I have a promblem with! What pun means is a mystery! lol
