Should marijuana be legalized?

Are we spending way too much time and money enforcing existing laws with NO results?

Can marijuana be a money-making venture for the government?

Anybody going to the Leg today?

(Oh so many frigg'n questions....)

Lets clear a couple of things up.

There is a huge difference between decriminalized and legalized.

Legalized means it would be like cigarettes, its manufacture, distribution and taxing would all follow probably the same laws and regulations and cigs.

Decriminalization means its still illegal, but all you get is a fine if you are caught with it. The government makes no money off taxes and enforces no rules on manufacture and distribution. ALTHOUGH at one time there was talk of still making it a criminal act to supply to minors.

Also, it is already a crime to be under the influence of any intoxicating substances whilst driving, Alcohol has a relatively easy test that they can administer to get the evindence required to charge you, other stuff.. not so easy. So that would have to be taken into account.

PLUS we are slowing criminalizing tobacco.. how does that fit that we are going the opposite ways on these two weeds?

So what will some of us be celebrating today? Time to bring out some Mighty Diamonds, Yelloman, Tosh and Marley to kick start my brain!!!

Legalize it now Harper and save the punitive laws for real criminals?

Yep Rat those are bands....the Mighty Diamonds are one of my all-time faves.....and of course Toots and the Maytalls, Gregory Isaacs (before he became a big crackie), Dennis Brown.....

Wasn't sure if they were bands or breeds of plants!

LOL... two things about 420. I work just across the street from the LEG.

1) Every year the parking ticket guys make out like bandits on these peeps. This year is going to be even more as the side streets that used to be free are now 2 hour pay spots. Usually people start arriving after 330 and are AMAZED by all the free spots on Broadway up and down both sides. heh.. they dont notice the no parking 330 to 5 I guess. Plus just now, two guys pulled up in this one car and parked almost 2 feet away from the crub. The driver paid for parking went to put the ticket back in and even commented... whooaa.. I am real far away man.

heh.. anyway.. lots of money to be made of drug use for sure!

2). When you are extremely tired from lack of sleep. Dont go sit outside on a bench with a 420 event near by... People tend to think you are stoned and asked to buy drugs from you.

I prefer to acknowledge the day in a quiet locale.....far from the fumes of patchouli oil.....heheeh

Well my daughter just called and told me it is packed on the leg grounds....and she said it smells very nice indeed. Hahahaha.

So far the internets have told me it's a herb from the mint family...no relation to anything illegal...

Patchouli oil - hippie types love to douse themselves in it......it is an annoying scent.
