Grumpy, I thought at first what you did changed the text size but it did not. Go back to where you were before, don't make changes on my account!

There is just way too much going on, on this site.
Is there any page I can link to that will just show all the discussions?
Have no Calender
Drop the main poll?
Quit showing me who I am?
Get rid of the Rss feeds block?
and not have to have a topic title longer then 10 characters?

Hey, there are two other threads devoted to suggestions to tweak this site... And yet a thirds is necessary? affraid There is ton's we can do to make this sandbox more enjoyable to play in.

Youse guys tell me how to handle a request from one user to add rss feeds and one to nuke 'em.

Not sure what the "Who I am" section is. Please clarify.

I can easily drop the poll.

I'll see about the single page for all discussions.

The calendar is easily nuked.

I'll move all the widgets to the right or left hand side and open up the opposite side.

Please have patience with this old man.

I have both Firefox (3.0.3) and Internet Explorer (8 Beta). When I look at this space with ALL the tool bars turned off on IE, in compatibility mode, on a 24" monitor, man does it look GOOD.

For those that insist on using IE but are having problems with it consider upgrading to IE8 and use the compatibility feature.

For the Firefox afficiandos I occasionaly have a complete computer freeze-up when browsing. This requires a hard boot to unlock everything. But not once. I have to hard boot THREE times.
If anyone knows what the problem is I'd be real interested in hearing it. I guess I'll stop ufing Firefox for now...

I will try to keep such actions to a minimum. And if anyone is genuinely concerned please say so.

We'll I've gone and done something... See the icons over the thread and forum titles? Any idea how that happened? I think I should create a shadow site and make changes there first. Any thoughts?

As far as your Firefox issues GOM.

1) Are you using the latest version of Firefox (version 3)?

2) Have you turned at least ONE of your browsers "Automatically check to see if "xxx" is the default browser" settings off? (it's even better to turn them both off)

It sounds like two progams are fighting with each other for dominance, thus causing the lockup...and a "hard reboot" does nothing to clear the cache.

The other problem could be some adware in your computer, trying to talk to both browsers at one time...thus creating a conflict.

Try going to download.com and finding Spybot SD. Download and install that, and that will find anything causing problems on your computer with adware.

If you're using ZoneAlarm or Shaw's SecureFast (or whatever they call it now)...that will fight with your browsers too...and is nowhere near as good as Spybot for adware.

As far as the other complaints...I like that you moved all the stuff to the right so it's "hidden" for those who don't want them...but personally I like them.

I'm still looking for a "View All Posts" link though Very Happy.

to all...

Thanks for all your feedback. I'm trying to respond to the various members
requests. Two things that I heard loud and clear was the home page was
too busy and that an at-a-glance list of the latest posts was desired.

So I took everything off the home page and added the at-a-glance view.

I've also created a new page where I've placed everything else including the stats modules. That page can
be accessed by clicking on the PORTAL icon, second from left under the
banner. Those icons are your friends. Look at each of them and you'll discover more features of this site.

I have decided to limit my changes to once weekly (Saturday or Sunday)
for the next two - four weeks and then once monthly as required.

Please keep sending your feedback.

cheers, gom

Wow, never noticed. That is bizarre. I've no idea what that is all about. Maybe some Bots? Maybe an attack? Let's hope the backbone to this site is uber-strong. I suspect it can handle that kind of traffic. Besides sine we only have 25 or so members not much damage can be done me thinks.
