1) Story yesterday about the Federal Government Jets running empty 70% of the time. The captains to keep their license have to fly a certain number of hours.

It wouldn't dawn on any bureaucrat to report the waste, and sell off the plane to save money, and be rewarded with a 10%? commission if the savings were actually done!

Well, if we sell the planes, we will be without certified pilots, and if we are without certified pilots...we might as well bend over now, and grab our ankles regarding our North.

We have a $70,000 picnic table at Vimy Ridge Park that is seldom used. Wink

(not really a bureaucratic waste, but a waste none the less imo.)

And then we could watch the road crumble because there's no money for maintenance.

I assume Rosen is referring to government planes used for flying bureaucrats flying half empty.
How does shutting these planes down and having the bureaucrats fly commercial give up our rights to the Arctic?

Thanks.

If they just diverted the rest of the money set aside for the museum in current and future years to maintaining our crumbling infrastructure (not new) , wouldn't Winnipeg still be way ahead of the game?

No these are aircraft used by Transport Canada, more for flying inspectors to various locations throughout the country. They usually fly empty because the pilots are the inspectors as well. Also to note that Transport Canada needs to log so many hours in order to maintain their license.

It's funny how the CBC reports of how federal departments spend their budgets but casually deflect any questions pertaining to their excessive and more than likely abused budgets. I'm all for journalistic freedom, however if you want to start attacking the federal government, make sure the skeletons in your closet are taken care of first.

Canada purchased 5 submarines for $1 Billion have spent another $4 billion on renovations, and have none running, as yet!

Accordimg to the navy, the subs are going to be very important to the navy!

Oh yes, and 1 Canadian has died aboard one of the subs when there was a fire!
