SYDNEY, Australia (AP) — A proposed Internet filter dubbed the “Great Aussie Firewall” is promising to make Australia one of the strictest Internet regulators among democratic countries.

What is hilarious in an ironic way is the government proposing this idiotic move is the Labour Party. I recon Evil Doer has a massive green streak on this one.

Funny I feel there should be more control of the net the false information and the bs that is started on it is unreal . The fools that think it is a place to slander and lie about people are many . yes the law applies for liable, but try to find the person who makes the statement . It has turned into a free for all which in many instances is out of control , I remember reading where the inventor has stopped going on it .

Great challenge number 1: who decides what stays and what goes? I for one am not prepared to abdicate that responsibility to some pompous bureaucrat.

This is a real no-story, as there are only 741 people in Australia who have the internet, and most of them cannot read anyway!

There is no way to patrol it but it needs it as the perverts are every where and the knowledge you can gain is scary how to build a bomb or hate someone .
Some of it is really serving no useful purpose is it. Other then to be there for someone to glean and use good or bad.

If we allow someone to start censoring the net for us then God only knows whats next. I don't think we need big brother telling us what or what not to read, I'm fully capable of deciphering fact from fiction all by myself.

If anyone is hiring an experienced person, who knows everything, I think I would apply for that job!
Especially interesting when you think of all the possible things that you could ban, that MAY be bad for you to believe!
1) climate change is controllable!
2) marihuana is dangerous
3) the war on drugs is winnable
4) politicians are in it to help
5) the war on terror is winnable
6) the war on prostitutes is winnable
7) the war on mosquitoes is winnable
Cool rapid transit between the U of W and the U of M is a good investment
9) Wpg can afford an NHL team
10) IKEA in Wpg is agood thing
11) Mayor Sam is the Best
12) Brian Mulrooney was our 2nd best Conservative P.M.
