he said he made a batter...so i'd assume he used the dry powder...and then added ingredients...

so the koolaid is just the flavour...not the mix.

either that, or he made a dough, but instead of water, he used liquid koolaid?

I mean the premixed powder you can buy. as opposed to just the little dry packets of flavour

must eb that.. cause without sugar it would taste like crap

Ingredients for Deep Fried Kool Aid:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Cups of Milk
  • 1/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 3 2/3 Cups of Flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoons of Salt
  • 1/8 Cup of Cherry Kool Aid
  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • Vegetable Oil For Frying

Making The Batter:
Beat the eggs and the sugar together in a mixing bowl. Slowly add the milk while beating slowly. Add all of the dry ingredients, and beat until the mixture is slow and creamy. The batter should be a bright pink color. Add more kool aid as desired.

Cooking Directions:
Cook in hot vegetable oil for about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the hot oil when the fried kool aid batter is golden brown and is crispy.

Optional:

If desired, the deep fried kool aid can be rolled in a mixture of powdered sugar and cherry kool aid after it is fried. Use about 1/8 cup of kool aid to 1/2 cup of powdered sugar.
Allow the Deep Fried Kool Aid to cool a bit before eating. They will burn you badly if eaten too soon. Fried Kool Aid taste best with a fresh glass of Kool Aid!

we got these neat little fryer things from the states. Basically its a little metal tool with a few different shapes. you dip it in the batter, then dip it in the oil.

They are HUGELY popular in minnesota and north dakota, not many other places apparently.. but we have not used them yet. MIGHT just try them out just so we can try this recipe.

now see...there's a marketable idea.

if you had say a cookie sheet with two sides (like a plastic mold)

with various shapes in it (like baseballs, or footballs, or cartoon characters)

then you make something like the koolaid batter...and fill the mold...drop it into a deep fryer....then remove the mold and sell the little shaped koolaid things.

kind of like mini-donuts
