If you stand on my lawn, you can hear them. True story. They've been doing sound checks all afternoon. I've heard Vertigo at least once already.

ETA: If the streets have no names, they really ought to fire their city planners. Clearly they still haven't found what they're looking for.

I used to hear all of the stadium concerts when I lived in Woseley. I kind of miss that now.

I don't miss the weird fire dancing drummers in the park at 11 pm every three days though. Smile

I like to know how many people are actually catching the concert for free? There are some great spots outside the stadium where you a good view of the stage.

I drove by there at 4pm and it looks like 2,000 people have the same idea. By 5:30pm there were likely thousands more.

I can hear the concert just fine in Waverly West. I wonder if the police get noise complaints during concerts? If they were to ever shut this concert down, do you think there would be a riot in the city Razz ?

3.5 stars out of 5 for me.

Knew the setlist ahead of time, so few surprises.
Sat in the stands, so not an intimate feeling show. Would have preferred to stand next to the stage.
AC/DC just put on a better show, in comparison. And I'm a bigger U2 fan.
Felt a tad preachy with the Amnesty International video, promotion from Bono.

Had the Mayor and his lovely missus walk by me a couple of times, as well as Bomber Obbi Khan.

Winnipeg sun review: 5 Stars
Winnipeg free press review: 41/2 Stars

Both papers said there were 50,000 in attendance. The free press calling it a sell out.

For me it would be Wire, followed closely by Red Hill Mining town

I've always had a soft spot for "Love Is Blindness"

hehe - thankfully I wasn't there ALL DAY FRIDAY like my wife was! But I did spend three hours on Sat night camped out and got to meet him.

I'm not fond of the way they use their concerts for political purposes, and don't support all of Bono's charities, but musically some of their stuff really hits the spot for me, so it was great meeting the band. Achtung Baby is one of the best albums of all time, IMO, and features some absolutely phenomenal bass playing. Whatever Adam Clayton was smoking in 1991 I wish he'd try it again, because he's never again come close to the genius that is on that album.

Achtung Baby IS my favorite album of all time. I first heard it travelling in BC when it came out, and ever since then, it's pretty much all I listen to when in BC. It just has such an emotional tie with me. LOVE IT!

Again, being a true U2 fan ( that Joshua Tree and previous), I was a tad disappointed in the set list, but then again, they weren't gonna play everything I wanted anyway. The guy beside me who is a self identified '90s U2 fan said it was a great setlist.

Awesomeness of note - My's Son's most hoped for song? sunday, bloody sunday!

Worst part - the fact the audience didn't get most of the subtle Winnipeg references!

Best Album would be either JT or UF, AB isn't bad, after that there are spots of greatness.

Generally pre UF is much better than post AB

For me, AB is the most complete album, and being honest, it was the last time they were truly relevant musically. Zooropa deflated all of that momentum, and any musical accolades they acquired post AB were based on their tours.

They're last album seems like a joke to me. It's almost as if they dared the record company they could make the most boring record in the world and STILL bring in record amounts of cash.

UF fire is pretty good, but I do find some of JT over rated. It's high points are in the stratosphere, but without the hits the album's song's don't do it for me.

Contrary to AB, Rattle and Hum is one of the worst albums on the whole of all time. Wink Some great songs on there, but the track listing makes for a jarring listening experience.
