So. The Conservative haters love to blame all the world's woes on Harper. How do ya suppose this will be spun?
Canada in midst of a growth spurt, will lead G7: OECD

OTTAWA A leading international think-tank says Canada will lead its peers in the G7 in economic growth during the first half of this year.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development says the outlook for economic growth has brightened for all G7 countries, with the exception of Japan.

But the improvement has been most marked in Canada and to a lesser extent the United States.

“The outlook for growth today looks significantly better than it looked a few months back,” OECD chief economist Pier Carlo Padoan said in a statement.

“Growth perspectives are higher all across the OECD area, and the recovery is becoming self-sustained, which means there will be less need for fiscal or monetary policy support.”

Canada is now expected to grow by 5.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2011, and 3.8 per cent in the current second quarter.

Much of that growth has come from the resources sector in Western Canada and continued strength in the housing market in most parts of the country.

Germany is the next strongest economy, with growth rates of 3.7 and 2.3 per cent in the two quarters.

The loonie rose 0.39 of a cent to 103.75 cents US at midday Tuesday.

I was shocked to see the CBC broadcast this great news.

I am of the guess that the Libs knew this was coming and wanted to call the election before in the hopes it would be drowned out. Because if they waited even until today to force the election people would see it for what it is.

They are running scared of being decimated in the next election and if this had been out... or even worse for them come October the even more rosie of a picture they would lose most seats they have and be relegated to nothing.

Now its up to the Cons MP-wanna-bees to use the information to their advantage in a way for ordinary citizens to understand.

I thought that Iggy was just saying that we were doing so badly and that we had to change direction.

My goodness! I just don't know who to believe anymore. Rolling Eyes

...same guy that said "the next war will be nuclear" after WW11.

Iggy is playing with the military imo.....giving them schooling after they leave the military....would you believe it???

We're still waiting for Chretien's copters eh, so I wouldn't hold my breathe for him providing anything to the military.

They wont be leaving the Military except in a pine box if they dont have a sufficient air force protecting them

Nice of Count Iggy to promise education to those leaving the military. Does he not know that many leave with some of the best trades training in the country. Those who have gone through the electronics school in Kingston are in high demand.

Some even retire after 25 years with a handsome pension.

Come to think of it...how would he know. He has lived outside the country for many years, and the Liberals that advise him hate spending money on the military. This is him just blowing his mouth off again.

meh.. he is probably just going to completely shut down the military in year 2 of his mandate and hand over our protection entirely to the USA.

Of course there are!! Who do think does all the work?

While combat arms are the most demanding and skilled in very specific skill sets, those are the trades which need the help to transfer skills to private industry.
