The Manitoba Tories released a leaked document Friday they say proves Manitoba Hydro knew in 2009 that the cost of building Bipole III had nearly doubled.

Speaking during a conference call earlier this week Tory Leader Hugh McFadyen accused premier and former Hydro minister Greg Selinger of misleading the public on Bipole III.

“We’ve got a growing concern about Mr. Selinger’s dishonesty when it comes to telling Manitobans what the true cost of this project is going to be,” McFadyen said. “And this latest leaked document really goes to the issue of whether you can trust Greg Selinger with Manitoba Hydro. It’s becoming increasingly clear the answer to that question is no.”

Seems Brennan is speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

He was saying that the price could go up about $4B...around the same number that the leaked document is using.

What document id he using to come up with his numbers then?

brennan is pandering to his masters. The ndp will try to put this off as along as possible, after the election if they can. hugh needs to make this an important part of his platform.

Tell me of a single gov't super-project that has come in on budget. Just one - over the history of time. There's a suggestion that convertor equipment has doubled in cost. Show us that - beyond the rhetoric/statement itself. Therefore beyond that unlikelihood - the real issue is that it will inevitably be much greater than stated - simply based on the fat that these never happen on budget and that they don't have to comm8it to a maximum budget. Maybe Selinger and Brennan would like to attach a personal guarantee? We can't allow this wrong-side project to proceed without the proper assurances - or at all.
