Not sure I get the point...

Kinda lot's of insensitive peeps posting on that site. Point is the woman and her son lost everything. The focus should be on that. Not that she is on welfare. It's obvious this woman was not living the high life if the apartment she is renting is not even habitable.

The cheap shots about her son owning a computer are lost on me. A good used computer can be had for peanuts today, even free. Bunch of morons if ya ask me.

Those same icewholes bitchin' because he has a computer are the same icewholes that would be bitchin' because the kid might turn into a criminal. Give him a computer and hope it is his bridge out of a life of crime.

The Free Press electronic comments area has turned into a total free for all for all sorts of bashing for a while now. Doesn't seem to matter what story.

The decked out Escalade photo on the facebook profile might be making a case for some of the mean spirited posters on the Freep site though.

Decked out escalade photo which according to her is "at are new place"

which is obviously a house.
The fact she is in a relationship.

her son.. which according to her is a little a$$ hole who needs to spend some time out of the house and living on the street

to me those things all SCREAM anything but what her supposed story is.

also... sorry to sound Jaded GOM but this sounds like the same story then "Winnipeg" got taken on last year..

oh no.. our rental burned down with all our stuff in it and we had no insurance...

whats that.. you took most your stuff out before hand and set the fire yourself?

and this has happened to "us" more then once

not saying that is the case here, but once we as a group get taken a couple of times, we tend to get a little jaded.

You don't really believe that's her "new ride" at her "new place"?

Anywho, no need to apologize. Too many people use the kind-hearted too often. With the generosity of Winnipeggers common knowledge it does not surprise me to hear some of these events are staged.

was she staying at a relatives because of cold? or was that an excuse to explain why she was not there?

hell her admitting that she was not there could very well screw this landlord over for insurance even if nothing else was true, there is a huge difference between occupied and unoccupied housing when it comes to insurance.

Her absence wouldn't affect the landlord's insurance Dean. It's irrelevant.

It's a rental unit. It can be expected to be vacant on occasion. However, the landlord has to attend regularly as they would to show the place to rent it.

But, like I say, it's not an issue.

Of course, this is subject to the type of insurance a landlord has and can vary depending on title arrangements.

If the suite was vacant for only a month or two, no prob. However, If longer, AND the landlord KNEW, then there may well be a problem.

Insurance companies do not like vacant properties.

In this case it looks like the woman only recently abandoned the place and it is very possible the landlord did not know.
