AND THIS.. THIS is exactly Why it is okay to get outraged

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Poodle-returned-to-owners-after-public-outcry-111600049.html

The public outrage is what made the sick bastards send the dog home.

What a great ending. That notwithstanding, the guy is still a jerk.

Funny how some people stubbornly refuse to acknowledge that things that are wrong can be changed. If it is wrong make a stink and keep making a stink until it is righted.

Why do I feel that there's more to the story than appears in the article?

Why aren't the people that sold the dog being charged?

I do believe that was covered in the first article.; I also believe a public outing, and lynching, is in order for the people that originally sold (and never returned) the dog or money.

I wonder if there is any way to charge the jerk with a crime? None-the-less I'd like to see the jerk dragged into a police station and "interviewed" for as long as legally possible to "interview" someone.

The family contacted police but were told police don't get involved in such cases and advised they phone a lawyer.

Selective enforcement I'd say.

Anybody else feel that the cops are shucking their responsibilities?

I've believed the police have been far too selective for far too long about what they pursue and don't pursue. This issue demanded police involvement.

This trend has been reported in the past. The police now routinely take the position that the matter of the complainant is a "civil" one - that they should pursue on their own. This is also primarily what's made it possible for police and cities to claim that "crime is going down". Fewer people even bother reporting to the police nowadays. They know it however now they're playing the stats game with citizens as though that's now part of their job - public relations/deceit versus solving crime. I know many retired WPS and the older guys are disgusted with what policing has become. They refer back to the old days where they were peace officers and now they're increasingly becoming agents of the government including fundraising. They used to collect NSF cheques on behalf of people (it was a crime and still is). The real blame rests with crime legislation. They are sick of the toothless justice system. They say that the dog-catcher now has more impact on the community than they do. Most guys are just putting in their time until they make 25yrs.
