I agree that community centres are neglected and mostly due to the fact that our civic leacership is more concerned with business ventures than ventures that support people.
We really lost a lot of hope with the past two elections; first we lost Judy, then we lost Kevin Chief. What a bleak future we have until the next elections!

Good post Deank. I keep waiting for Natalie Fontaine to make similar comments on behalf of the chiefs.

What in the world was this 6 year old doing playing on the river with open water visible? Why was there not more mature supervision for this youngster? As bad as I feel for the parents they ultimately are responsible.

Imagine what that poor ten year old is thinking. I hope to god he gets the treatment he needs because he is not responsible but I'll bet he feels responsible...

Reading the various stories and information on it.

Mom and sons moved in 3 days before accident. I know when I moved (many times) it was always hectic for at least a week or more after. Easy to see how Brother1 offers to take Brother2 out to play in the snow and get out of moms hair and well, kids make stupid decisions sometimes. Starts by shooting ice chunks from the top of the river bank. slowly moves down nearer the ice. They wack it hard with sticks to see they can step on it.... and one moments horsing around later and gone.

Kids dont think like adults unfortunately and his experiences might not be as great as another kid who grew up close to the river. Maybe he thought that the worst that will happen is they fall in and get a booter just like what happens on a lake?

I want to know where these parents were precisely at the time of accident.

Isn't it obvious Deank? These parents should NOT have let a 6 year old out of their sight. Especially in a strange neighbourhood. The ten year old too...

Really depends guys

Growing up in Northern Manitoba and Northern Saskatchewan. From 5 on I was out of site of my mom wandering around quite a bit of the time. Sometimes with the 1 year younger then me kid next door, sometimes with my sisters who are at most 3 years older then me..sometimes by myself with a note in my hand to go the 3 blocks away to get her some smokes and me some mojos.

Did lots of stupid stuff.

It does not say where these guys moved from, perhaps they moved from a "safer" town/area and a 10 year old could know what to do.

Parents not thinking, kid not thinking. sh1t happens.

Doesn`t that person who made the comment about losing Judy and Kevin Chief realize that there are many of us who are very thankful for that fact.

Parents and kids not thinking. That has absolutely nothing to do with community centers.

oh but IF judy and Kevin got in ( you know Kevin less then 1 week ago) he/they would have made sure that all the CCs in the area were wide opened and staffed and had at least 1000 things for the kids to do..

Even though Kevin has no control over any budget and would not since he is not in the leading party... even though Judy still would have to pay for this stuff... even though if she was elected it would have been less then a month and no time to do anything.....

AND THE KIDS HAVING JUST MOVED TO THE AREA would have had no clue about the centre or its imaginary programs that were created out of thin air.

I thought that it was illegal to leave children under 12 alone.
