yeah.. just getting them in for more money off the drinks and sides or whatever.. But at least it is something I guess

and here is all the proof that they require

applebees to give free entree to vets and current military service StarProof of Canadian Forces Identification to Obtain Free Entrée:

  • Permanent ID card for active personnel
  • Temporary ID card for reservists
  • Veteran’s Card
  • Photograph in uniform
  • Wearing uniform

Thats interesting just a photo of you in uniform.

I'll bet if you prove you're an ex-vet (US or whatever) they'd honour their pledge.

I would bet that as well.

umm...once a vet...always a vet Wink

a veteran is one who has served.

active military would be considered "military personnel".

either way...i could bring in my discharge papers, or a photo of me in uniform.
my discharge was listed as "un-characterized" as I was still going through training programs upon discharge (was given the option to choose a different job or get out...one of the few things I kick myself about today)

So not to be a disturber, but Ages, am I reading your comment correctly, you never actually "served" active duty? If this is true, are you still considered a veteran?

Personally, anyone who wanted to take advantage of Applebees and get a free meal could print off a picture of a soldier in uniform, show up at the door, claim to be the soldier in the picture and be served the free meal. Really should only be permanent ID card for active personnel, temporary ID card for reservists or a Veteran’s card used as ID. This is just my opinion, I take it to heart all of the sacrifices that the military men and women and their families go through and to have someone impersonate a soldier or vet is wrong.

I would hope that applebees is simply assuming no one will be asses about it and if anyone is, they dont care because its better to serve 1000 who are not, then not serve one who was and just cant prove it.

Yes..and no.

I did serve active duty, and I qualified as a veteran because I completed Basic Training.
However, the training program I was in was 1 year long, and I only did 14 weeks of it...so I never got to serve in my assigned MOS.

At the time, the US Army was doing cutbacks..letting people go left and right. They gave me an option, to choose a different MOS or be discharged as uncharacterized (ie. not honorable but not dishonorable)...being a dumb kid, I chose the out.

i can't see anyone taking advantage of applebees, especially on nov. 11th.

sure there may be one jerk that fakes it and boasts about it online. small price to pay.

Besides it's just a damned entree. Who is going to go to that kind of trouble for a free entree?

YEah, but the deal is for Wednesday, November 11, but Remembrance Day is Thursday, November 11 and thats enough to confuse all the guys who served in the Air Force and the Navy, so its an easy out for Applebee's.

Yep, the fine print at the bottom reads Nov 11, 2009.

Great for the time-travelling squadrons, but not much else....

The front page also lists a "photograoph in uniform" as acceptable. What the hell is a "photograoph"?
Methinks Applebees does not hire good graphic/layout people. Two mistakes on the same promotion, must be an ex-Air Force type.
